Varisty Head Coach
Additional Information

Gio De La Pena was born in Mexico and moved the Lawrenceville, GA in 1996
with his parents and 2 sisters. He grew up in the Central Gwinnett cluster
where he played football, basketball, and baseball. After middle school he
chose to focus on football where he was a 3 year varsity starter and 2 year
captain. He was all county for two years while playing linebacker and
Fullback/Offensive Line. A long list of injuries kept coach out of college
football, but he went on to complete his teaching and history degree at
Georgia Gwinnett College and M.Ed. in Instructional technology from
Kennesaw State University. After teaching and coaching middle school
basketball, Coach went on to teach and coach at Norcross High School as a
9th grade coach & Director of Operations for the football program and the
head coach for lacrosse (2 years girls, 3 years boys). He helped four
straight teams to the playoffs in football, the highlight of that time
being the 2016 season where we made it undefeated into the quarterfinals.
In lacrosse, he led the 2015 girls team to the school's best lacrosse
record of 13-4, making it to the first round of the playoffs. On the boys
side, he led the program to their best and only winning season in 2016 with
a 8-6 record.

Coach is the proud husband of 11 years to Jenna De La Pena and loves being
a dad to their four kids: Eisley, Asher, Ammon, and Abram. They have lived
in Grayson for over 5 years now, and love being a part of the Grayson
family! He looks forwards to developing young men who will not only be
dominant in lacrosse, but learn the skills necessary to be exceptional in
the real world past high school.
